Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists (OTs) help children improve performance in a variety of areas, including learning, self-care, and social interaction. Areas a pediatric OT may treat include: visual discrimination, visual memory, grasp, pencil grip, handwriting, scissors use, hand strength, dexterity, general fine motor skills, general gross motor skills, ball skills, balance, bilateral coordination, play skills, attention, listening skills, dressing, grooming, and sensory Coloring friendsintegration.

Pediatric OTs also assess the motor development of infants, including premature infants, and design and implement treatment plans to address delays. OTs also evaluate and treat feeding difficulties in infants and young children.
